Abstract

In Class II deep-bite malocclusions with growth potential, we could combine orthodontic treatment with orthopedic methods to achieve stable occlusion. The case was a 12-year-old male presented with Class II malocclusion, deep-bite, and low mandibular plane angle. In the stage I treatment, headgear was used to restrict the growth of maxilla. Bilateral Class III molar relationship was gained. After re-evaluation, stage II treatment was started from full mouth banding and bonding, with emphasis on leveling lower curve of Spee and intruding lower anterior teeth by placing reverse curve of Spee in the archwire and intrusive arch to solve the deep overbite. Headgear and Class II elastics were used for anchorage control. At the end of treatment, good alignment of both arches and solid occlusion were established.
